It has a closed water reservoir so all that you must add is the medicine. The battery pack is another issue. I have had two battery packs and neither will last for more than 2 minutes. After 2 minutes the power starts to wane and the delivery of the medicine decreases almost to zero. Your only option is to use the AC cord which negates mobility.
