The added presence of CMC in Maxorb Extra improves the gelling and fluid-handling ability as well as adding improved strength. The pad will not wick exudate laterally, reducing the potential for delicate peri-wound tissue damage. The gelatinous pad may be easily lifted in one piece from the wound bed. Dressings are supplied in single pouches or lidded tray. The rope version's lidded tray. The rope version's lidded tray keeps the fibers from compressing. As a result, fluid handling capacity is increased. It is a highly absorbent dressing. It absorbs fluid from the wound and often forms a gel-like substance.
Applying Maxorb Extra
Cleanse wound with normal saline or wound cleanser and gently dry surrounding area.
Apply dressing to moist wound surface. Loosely pack for deeper wounds.
Cover with secondary dressing.
When to change / reapply Maxorb Extra
Maxorb Extra can be left in place up to five days, or as directed.
Change Maxorb Extra if you see fluid on the outer dressing.
Removing Maxorb Extra
Gently remove the cover dressing.
Gently remove the Maxorb Extra dressing from wound.
If the dressing has adhered to the wound bed, moisten with solution or wound cleanser to loosen before removal.
