Derma-Gel Hydrogel Sheet, Size: 4 x 4 inches, Sterile, Latex Free helps create a moist wound environment but does not adhere to the surface of the wound bed and will not liquify in the wound. This highly absorbent product also helps protect the wound from bacteria and fungi. Soft, flexible and cushioning cover for bony prominences or abraded skin. Change dressing every 2-5 days as needed.
Applying Derma-Gel
Cleanse wound with normal saline or wound cleanser and gently dry surrounding area.
Remove plastic cover from dressing. (Do not remove white lycra cover.)
Apply dressing directly over the wound.
Derma-Gel has a gentle 'tackiness', but not an adhesive, so it must be secured with a dressing such as Elastic Net or Medfix.
When to change / reapply Derma-Gel
Change Derma-Gel when it becomes saturated; it will look somewhat slippery and rubbery. Remove dressing before showers, baths, or whirlpools or protect it witha waterproof covering. If Derma-Gel does not look wet or swollen, it may be reapplied over the wound.
